Philly Police’s Heavy-Handed Pride Response

This year’s police response to Philly Pride was heavy-handed and traumatic to the the LGBTQ community, says councilmember Rue Landau. Community members recounted police on motorcycles and horses driving pedestrians out of the way, and officers wearing face masks.

“It was a really scary moment,” Landau says.

That’s why she demanded answers from the police in a public hearing at council. Landau tells the Hall Monitor what community members want to see change.

Also on tonight’s show: we ask Landau where city council’s Ice Out legislation stands, and our consumer reporter, Lance Haver, takes a deeper dive into SEPTA’s new bus network.
